A group of students from the Croatian Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) in Zagreb have been awarded the rector prize of the University of Zagreb for their contribution to fighting energy poverty in Zagreb. With the cooperation of FER, the City of Zagreb, and the Society for Sustainable Development Design (DOOR), the students visited around 90 poor energy households in Zagreb. It is planned that around 100 households will be visited before the end of the programme, states a press release from DOOR.
For each household they visit, students bring along a package of energy-efficient equipment in order to introduce simple energy efficiency measures, conduct a simple energy review and educate the members of the household about rational use of energy and water, concluded the press release.
