Spanish renewables company Acciona is looking into expanding its renewables portfolio to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Serbia, Aljosa Pleic, the CEO of its Croatian subsidiary Acciona Energija, told Montel on Thursday.

In an interview on the sidelines on the Balkan Solar Summit in the northwestern BiH town of Banja Luka, Pleic said that the company is targeting the takeover of two solar power projects of around 40 MW each in BiH, as well as one in Serbia with a similar capacity.

He said that the projects are in the late development stages, but disclosed no further details as negotiations are ongoing.

“We have decided not to develop projects there from scratch, and to take a different approach in these countries,” said Pleic.

Croatia

Acciona Energija currently operates one 30 MW wind farm in Croatia but has received approvals for two new projects in the country, the 27 MW Opor and 45 MW Boraja II wind parks, which should be completed in 2024.

It has also been developing the 117 MW Brda Umovi wind park near Split and the 150 MW Promina solar farm near Sibenik.
