A total of 230 households and businesses have received prosumer status, adding 3.8 MW of capacity, Serbian energy ministry state secretary Jovanka Atanackovic told a renewable energy conference in Belgrade on Thursday.

“A total of 3.8 MW of rooftop solar capacity has been installed,” said Atanackovic at the RES Serbia 2022 conference.

Soaring and volatile power prices and Serbia’s renewable energy law, enacted last year, have made solar power more attractive to investors and consumers.

The Serbian government further streamlined bureaucratic procedures for solar prosumers in July.

The energy ministry believes that 4-6 GW of power production capacity could be harnessed if the potential of rooftop solar is fully tapped.
