The government of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Federation of BiH (FBiH) entity last week extended the deadline for the construction of wind farms and their connection to the national grid from three to five years.
A statement on the government’s website indicated that the deadline was extended by amending a decree meant to encourage renewable energy production and efficient cogeneration. This decision was made in response to requests from investors who had received energy permits and said they needed more time to complete their projects. Previously, they needed to file a request to the FBiH energy and mining ministry for the extension of their energy permits, which was often time consuming due to red tape.
