Twenty-seven entrepreneurial teams from 12 countries have successfully completed the EIT Digital Venture Programme, jointly organised by ABC Accelerator, Building Global Innovators, Found.ation and Startup Wise Guys. The teams each received a total of EUR 15,000 to build their minimum viable products (MVPs), said EIT Digital, a leading European digital innovation and entrepreneurial education organisation driving Europe’s digital transformation, in a press release. The teams participated in eight-week programmes in Riga, Ljubljana, Athens and Lisbon where they were coached by experienced mentors and ran customer experiments.
“Although the teams started just two months ago, their high motivation, fuelled by the Venture Programme’s intensive pre-acceleration programme and financial support from EIT Digital, has enabled them to make a significant leap to the next level. All the teams have delivered a minimum viable product ready for early adopters and many are proceeding at full steam towards incorporation,” noted EIT Digital.
According to EIT Digital, the first important results are already starting to become visible. Thus, in the Balkan region, the location intelligence platform ‘Hotspoter’ is already implementing a pilot with Eurobank in Serbia, while the smart gift-card solution ‘SOS’ has acquired Qlandia shopping centres in Slovenia as their first clients.
In the Baltics, Ruupi has launched a pilot project with a local real-estate agency and KIDNGO has signed its first paying customers.
Additionally, “international recognition for the quality of the team is increasing,” said EIT Digital, mentioning that Recovery Companion, with its social platform for cancer patients, won the LAPhack Health hackathon, while Grand Prix was the winner of StarterTallinn.
“The programme was an invaluable source of information for our startup, empowering us to understand all the facets of the startup journey,” said Eric Jackson, the co-founder of Recovery Companion.
