The Serbian government has adopted the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) that foresees a 33.6% share for renewables in the country’s gross final energy consumption by 2030, the energy minister said late on Thursday.
The share is lower than the 40.7% demanded by the Energy Community, which Serbia is a member of.Djedovic-Handanovic noted that the NECP focuses on renewable energy investments, with approximately 3.5 GW of new solar and wind power plants set to be connected to the grid by 2030. The share of renewables in the country’s energy generation mix is foreseen at 45.2% by the end of 2030.
This target is aligned with the Energy Community’s recommendations.
