Hungary will launch its first guarantee of origin (GO) auction on 14 June, the Hungarian power exchange HUPX said on Wednesday.
During the first phase, GOs would be sold solely by TSO Mavir in quarterly auctions and the available technologies would include solar, wind and other renewable energy produced under the country’s feed-in tariff (FiT) support scheme for renewables.About 3.9 TWh produced under the country’s FiT scheme last year would be available for auction.
In a second phase, a multiple seller model – including Hungarian and other European power plants and GO traders – will be introduced, said the exchange.
The model would allow trading with GOs from the non-primary FiT regime and extended to all member countries of Europe’s Association of Issuing Bodies.
Hungary will announce further details on the second phase later this year.
