Energy Debate #2: Increasing Renewable Capacity in SEE
The South East European (SEE) region is already increasing its renewable capacity. According to regional power traders, renewable energy sources (RES), especially wind and solar, are already having an impact on the regional market and prices. How big is this impact at the moment and how is this likely to effect power prices in the region in the future? What are the challenges and solutions for further development of the regional power market? These were just some of the questions that Energetika.NET asked the speakers in a recent Energetika.NET video energy debate, in which Dr. Dejan Paravan, the CIO of GEN-I, Martin Georgiev, Head of Market Bulgaria, Alpiq and chairman of the board of the Association of Traders with Electricity in Bulgaria (ATEB), as well as Marko Bregar, Trading Director at Interenergo, took part.
