By having prepared this report, the country has made its first step in light of facing challenges, created by climate change and its effects, but it also represents an important step towards understanding the real issues connected to climate changes and their mitigation.

The Ministry released that the report in question had been written by local experts in cooperation with and with financial support by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), which proves that Bosnia and Herzegovina does have the capacities and the preparedness to take over a new, active and cooperative role in combating climate change.

The Ministry further pointed out that the First National Report was a key document which would not only respond to the needs of BiH within the Convention but would above all serve as a significant strategic paper on sustainable development.

Ministry for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of Republika Srpska announced that they planed to continue with their activities, the objective of which was to have the First National Report on Climate Change adopted by the UNFCCC Secretariat in Bonn.
