Hydropower plants on the Neretva in January exceeded their production plan by 70 per cent

Owing to excellent hydrological conditions in the accumulation basins of hydropower plants Jablanica, Grabovica and Salakovac – which are part of the system of hydropower plants on the river Neretva – and due to a high degree of operational readiness, the three power plants achieved excellent results in January, Elektroprivreda BiH told to Energetika.NET.

The Jablanica hydropower plant exceeded its production plan by 47 per cent, the Grabovica hydropower plant by 73 per cent, and the Salakovac plant by as much as 104 per cent.

According to Adis Bubalo, Technical Director of the company behind the Neretva hydropower plants, the three plants in question had exceeded their planned production in January by 69 per cent on average, which equals 17.3 per cent of the planned electricity production for 2010. Considering current hydrological conditions at the Neretva hydropower plants, Elektroprivreda BiH expects similar results also in February and March as well as in later months when more water will accumulate in the hydropower plants’ basins.
