European Commission allocated 60 million euros for the gas pipeline between Bulgaria and Serbia
Serbia and Bulgaria will use European funds to construct the gas pipeline from Dupnica (Bulgaria) to Nis (Serbia), as the European Commission has allocated 60 million euros for this project.

European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Jotingersaid that the agreement on the pipeline construction, through which gas will be transmitted both ways, will be signed tomorrow, on 5 March 2010 in Brussels by the representatives of Bulgartransgas and Srbijagas.PHOTO: iStockphoto
However, the companies are not planning to form a joint company, because each of them will manage the future pipeline on its side of the border. It is envisaged that the construction of the pipeline in the length of 106 kilometres will be completed by 2010. Dupnica is located in the south-west part of Bulgaria, on the transit pipeline. By integrating the new pipeline into the system, gas will be available to another 200 000 household in the south-east Serbia.
